The barrel on a Retay shotgun is made from a solid cylinder bar of 4140 steel which is drilled out, end-to-end, via a process called deep bore drilling. Deep bore drilling is a modern, more expensive process than the hammer forging process used by other manufacturers. Deep bore drilling doesn't stress the barrel or affect the integrity of the barrel in any way and results in a stronger, extremely accurate, Dead Straight barrel.

Most serious shotgun shooters pay extra to have a gunsmith lengthen their forcing cone – the smooth, tapered section where the shot leaves the chamber and enters the bore. In most shotguns, this area is short and abrupt, which creates friction that slows the shot, deforms pellets, and increases felt recoil.
We do it differently – and we do it right. Every one of our barrels is built with a precision-lengthened and polished forcing cone using our own proven process. EASY OUTMAGAZINE UNLOADING™
Retay shotguns feature a clever magazine unloading system that allows the operator to empty shells easily, without cycling the bolt. Clear the chamber as you would any semi-auto shotgun, but to empty the magazine, simply turn the shotgun upside down so you are looking at the feed ramp. Push the front of the feed ramp toward the chamber, exposing the back of the shell in the magazine. Simply pull the bolt release outward from the receiver and the shell releases onto the bottom of the feed ramp.
